Let’s all sit in a tree and spell out words

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

So, I think a lot of us in the atheosphere know about Kafir Girl, the ex-Muslim atheist blogger who is reading and deconstructing the Quran chapter by chapter (so we don’t have to!). Yesterday someone pointed out to me that some guy has his panties in such a knot about Kafir Girl that he started [...]

Sam Harris: ‘Islam is antithetical to civil society’

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Via nullifidian, Sam Harris has opined on Islam and violence.
The connection between the doctrine of Islam and Islamist violence is simply not open to dispute. It’s not that critics of religion like myself speculate that such a connection might exist: the point is that Islamists themselves acknowledge and demonstrate this connection at every opportunity and [...]

No bikinis please, we’re Muslim

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

Via MediaWatchWatch, some vandal was so offended by a swimwear ad that he painted over it. In response, Councilor Talib Hussain spouts some rape apologetics: Having families seeing naked pictures does not bring the community together, it provokes things.
Oh, those poor Muslims. When will we infidels ever learn that it is women’s responsibility to cover [...]

Muslims want to replace GMT with Mecca time

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

You know why? ‘Cause Mecca is the “center of the Earth!” Yeah, even though it’s, in fact, no where near the actual center of the planet (that would be the molten core in the middle, guys).
BBC: Muslim call to adopt Mecca time
One geologist argued that unlike other longitudes, Mecca’s was in perfect alignment to [...]

We can reprogram them. We have the technology.

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

And if they don’t have the technology, can we give it to them?
Religion News Blog: Muslim plan to tackle extremists
Potential terrorists should be sent to rehabilitation centres and deradicalised by exposure to intense and substantial periods of genuine piety, Britain’s first counter-extremism thinktank said yesterday.
The recommendation came from the Quilliam Foundation, established by former activists [...]

Muslims, are you listening?

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Frankly, one of the reasons I don’t blog about nice religious people more often is that I have trouble finding things to say about stuff I agree with. But I tire of being called a racist bitch when really, I’m just an argumentative bitch. So, Muslims (and everyone else), go read.

A Fitna for your very own

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Looks like Wikileaks is back up, so if there’s anyone who didn’t get to see Fitna before LiveLeak had to take it down (although it looks like Google hasn’t been bullied into removing their copy, which is good), Wikileaks has posted the Google video version, they have it available for viewing or download from their [...]

Morddrohungen! Fitna has been removed.

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Ich habe schon jetzt von dem Spiegel gehört, dass LiveLeak den Film “Fitna” von ihren Servern entfernen musste. Zwar ist es ein trauriger Tag für die Menschenrechte im Internet.
For those who don’t speak German, here’s an article auf englisch.
During the day that the film was available, it prompted widespread condemnation. On Friday, United Nations Secretary-General [...]

Fitna has been released

Friday, March 28th, 2008

LiveLeak.com has finally released Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam movie “Fitna”. I caught it at Unorthodox Atheism last night.
Edit: LiveLeak has been forced to remove the Fitna video because of death threats that were made to their staff. Nice “religion of peace” you’ve got there.
Edit again: IT’S BACK!

I thought about watching it a second time so I [...]

Today is opposite day

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Well, this is interesting.
via Religion News Blog, Radio Netherlands: Dutch Muslims offer to air anti-Qur’an film
Amsterdam - The Dutch Muslim Broadcasting organisation has offered Dutch populist MP Geert Wilders to air his planned anti-Qur’an film. Mr Wilders has rejected the proposal. The network first wants to ascertain that Fitna does not violate any constitutional rights. [...]
