Uh, I wasn’t aware we had a problem with the budget director getting stinky.

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

So, I open my email this morning, and I have a Chicago Tribune email alert about… “ShowerGate”. Chicago’s City Budget Director has had a $5,400 personal shower built in his office. And he tried to have it done with taxpayer money.

Chicago Tribune reporter John Kass, hearing about this, decides to head down to City Hall with a towel and a bar of Irish Spring to see if the budget director will let him use his new shower. And… he gets this on video.

Just another day at Chicago City Hall, I guess…

  1. Sadly, wasting $5,400 of taxpayer’s money on a shower for personal use is very minor in the grand scheme of abuse and corruption in Chicago. The illegal use of the city and county payroll as a way to reward those who do you political favours wastes millions and deprives many Chicagoans of the public services that they deserve.
