I just got back from seeing Hairspray. Your drag privileges are hereby revoked until you can figure out how to act like a woman and not “tee hee hee! I’m a man in drag!! Isn’t that wacky??” Ask Robin Williams if you need some tips. You were an eyesore in an otherwise awesome movie. Props to Nikki Blonsky for being adorable and to Amanda Bynes for somehow managing to not be annoying.

Your drag commentary privileges are revoked until you engage in enough study of cross dressing to understand that drag queens are parodies of notions of femininity rather than a genuine attempt to appear feminine.

The character of Edna is supposed to be a woman (coincidentally played by a man), so being genuinely feminine is called for for the role. Divine accomplished this. Travolta did not. Furthermore, Travolta’s stated intentions for the role were to play Edna as genuinely feminine and non-drag-queen-like as possible. He sucks at this. Furtherfurthermore, having an adequate grasp of the concept of femininity is necessary in order to properly parody it. This has eluded Travolta.
Your drag commentary commentary privileges are revoked until Travolta earns his drag privileges back.
