New House promo!

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

Season 3 of House is premiering two weeks from yesterday, and FOX has finally produced a new promo.

Evidently, House did receive the ketamine he requested at the end of the season 2 finale, it worked, and he is able to not only walk, but jog eight miles without even so much as a limp. What about all that thigh muscle he’s supposed to be missing? The ketamine wouldn’t have fixed that.

There’s also a sneak peek article about House season 3 in next week’s (Aug 28 - Sept 3) TV Guide.

Revelations:

  • House got the ketamine and is now pain-free.
  • According to executive producer David Shore, “the first two episodes will deal specifically with what happens when House starts to live without pain”.
  • Cameron in particular will be freaked out by the new House.
  • There will be a four-week hiatus in October (boo!).
  • After the hiatus, a new nemesis for House will be introduced: a “smart, driven” detective (played by David Morse of St. Elsewhere) who believes that House is “stealing pills and illegally overmedicating.”
  • There will be a story arc dealing with House’s addiction to Vicodin.

I have some problems with the second-to-last point: How, exactly, is House “illegally overmedicating” when it’s been made clear that the increasing amount of Vicodin that House takes for his leg is inadequate to control his pain? But, of course, if he’s addicted, he can’t just stop taking it even though his pain is gone, and in that case he would be overmedicating. But that’s assuming he’s actually addicted. Scott of the “politedissent” blog believes otherwise.
